Learning/teaching/training activity/ 8/13-03-2016. PROTECTED ECOSYSTEMS

Objectives: To increase students and our local community awareness about the protection of different ecosystems. To learn how to protect life on Earth.

The most important activity in each training event was the exchange of information about activities and the way they have been done. Shared information about educational practices between teachers attending these activities was carried out to each partner school after the meeting to the staff in each school. Activities were monitored according to the initial time-table activities, human resources (number of teachers, number of children involved), time (periods of time according to schedule), material and financial resources (materials needed for activities, notes of financial need for the project). Comparison with what was planned in the application form and the current reality. Analysis of the results of the questionnaires, the results of the research studies, the books provided after each workshop, discussions with our partners, feedback received from students, parents and local community, from all partner schools, their attitude provided us that they are more awareness about environmental problems and  more determined in taking actions for the quality of life in a healthy environment and show that our project has met its objectives. The activity from each library school became more dynamic, it is now a place to enjoy, to look for information and to research. Teachers seem to have more engaging working atmosphere in sharing their best practices in producing materials for formal and non-formal activities. Teachers involved in the project have improved their foreign language and digital skills by making PPT, designed digital books, working on  e-Twinning  platform and facebook. Several interesting material were created (mock-ups, board games, toys…) that will be useful in the future for new students in our schools. In addition to this, each training event had following special features:

Visiting the school library we found it as educational stable resource to create environments in which English language can be used in an easier and motivational way. Guest teachers have attended classes to observe students work on protected ecosystems and also each partner have presented to Italian pupils their games on this issue. Participants visited the nature reserve “Oasi Ripa Bianca” in Jesi, where they could see the concern for environmental protection and conservation of plants and birds, maintaining a pristine environment without the intervention of major human activities.

Italian School library mascot

The owl is a wise animal that lives in the MARCHE REGION. Local legend says that if you receive an owl (gufo or civetta in Italian) then you will be blessed with wisdom, intelligence and intuition. We chose the owl as our mascot for the Erasmus + project. It lives in our school library and watches over us as we read, research and learn together in this special place.
